This letter may be irrelevant by the time you read it but, if it isn’t, it should be.
After Jerry Miles had a Cecil Yates yard sign stolen from his front yard, two of Ginny Dicky’s supporters made ridiculous suggestions that someone other than a Dickey voter could have been responsible for this crime. A similar crime in the 1990s, here in Fountain Hills, resulted in a person having to resign from the town council.
A true leader would have stepped forward and disowned such actions. It was also disappointing how the unruly crowd at the back of the room on the night of the mayoral debate was jeering and booing when Mr. Yates was trying to respond to Ms. Dickey’s monologues. I have not seen Ginny Dickey express any public regrets for her bilious supporters’ behavior.

I am not lumping all those who might have been leaning toward voting for Ginny Dickey, but I am sure that some of you, after these incidents, will be questioning your support for someone who accepts these actions by her inactions. We need a candidate for mayor who knows the issues, has a forward-looking plan and has the required experience.
We saw the antithesis of that at the so-called debate when Ms. Dickey, with no passion, sometimes it seemed with a lack of understanding of the words in front of her, as she read her crib sheet that might have been put together by a gaggle of speech writers. Why else would she have trouble reading her own words?
Yates is a man honored for his integrity and his professionalism, who plainly showed during the debate that he has the knowledge and the attributes we need for our next mayor. Vote Cecil!
