Hunting facts

I will be respectful, as everyone is entitled to their opinion, and opinion and innuendo is precisely what Ms. Miller continues to espouse. Her facts are incorrect and it’s probably pointless to argue with someone that believes they’re “right” when they’re clearly misinformed and caught up in emotional inaccuracies.

That said, here are some facts.

-Coyote numbers are sky rocketing across the entire country. Since trapping was banned on public lands in Arizona, pronghorn antelope and deer herds have suffered. Coyotes love to eat newborn fawns!

That said, here are some facts.

-Coyote numbers are sky rocketing across the entire country. Since trapping was banned on public lands in Arizona, pronghorn antelope and deer herds have suffered. Coyotes love to eat newborn fawns!

-Mountain lion numbers are anything but going down! They have even moved into parts of Arizona where they historically haven’t been, like the KOFA National Wildlife Refuge.

-There are female harvest objectives on all black bear hunts in Arizona, and some bears in Arizona don’t even hibernate. It is illegal to shoot a sow with cubs in Arizona and most states!

-Some migration patterns for elk and pronghorn have been altered, but in most instances, not because of fencing, but because of highways.

-The only way to let “nature take its course” is to take all humans off the landscape and confine them to a walled city, …talk about “ludicrous!”

-What species and landscapes are “doomed” because of hunting? Sportsmen and women conservationists are the driving force in doing just the opposite of what Ms. Miller rants about.

-Nature photography being equated to “bloodlust”…really?

-Manipulating “facts” to mislead people is truly disingenuous, and that is precisely what animal rights folk love to do.

Ethical hunters don’t flaunt their harvests, they’re thankful for the opportunity and appreciate the hunt. If they are fortunate enough to harvest the animal, they take care of the meat and relish the taste and nourishment! It tastes better than farm-raised products and is better for you!
