Upon the recent death of our pet cat, I sought someplace to donate his personal effects, as he died intestate. Palisades Veterinary Hospital, our go-to vets, suggested passing them along to Fearless Kitty Rescue, a cat rescue shelter here in Fountain Hills.

I emailed the shelter, got directions and put the items in their donation box outside the facility.

In the email they sent me, they also offered a tour of the facility. A tour of a cat rescue place? Okay, why not?

At the appointed time, I showed up at 16913 E. Enterprise Dr. and met Chris Baxter and Kim Kamins, one of the two founders. The place was amazing!

First of all, it was so clean it was like being in your own home. Zero odor. Secondly, they had a lot of space which was carefully and artfully decorated, and salted here and there with spacious cages for some of the cats. Many other of the cats roamed at will.

Food, litter boxes, water dishes were all spotless. If I was a cat, it would be a toss up – do I really want to leave this place? From kittens to young adults, these cats were all in excellent condition and were obviously very well cared for.

In the space of just a few years Fearless Kitty Rescue has saved over 300 cats, delivering them to good homes. Not only is their work loving and humane, but in the process they are providing a civic service in seeing that the animals are neutered as well as healthy.

Because, as with most such organizations, they exist on donations, if you would like to support them or tour their facility, please contact them at info@fearlesskittyrescue.org

If you like cats, you will very much like Fearless Kitty Rescue.
