The Fountain Hills Sanitary District Board of Directors paid a tribute to Ron Huber, the retiring district manager who has run the town’s sewer system for 30 years.

The official resolution passed by the board to recognize Huber states, “The board of directors expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Ron for outstanding service to Fountain Hills Sanitary District and the people that it serves; and the [board] extends to Ron its best wishes for a long and happy retirement.”

Huber’s last board meeting as district manager was Thursday, July 18. However, another item on the agenda approved by the board called for hiring him in the new position of Special Assistant to the District Manager.

Huber will remain an employee of the district in this part-time capacity at a rate of $70 per hour.

At the same meeting the board also approved the promotion of Assistant District Manager Dana Trompke, P.E. to the top position of District Manager.

Trompke was hired in January this year specifically to take over Huber’s job upon his retirement. She has been working in the capacity of assistant since that time.

In a comment published in this edition of The Times, Huber states the district “will be in good hands with my successor, Dana Trompke. You can rest assured that issues that arise will be handled in a most professional way.”
