Fountain Hills High School homecoming week is set to run from Monday, Sept. 26, through Saturday, Oct. 3, and this year’s calendar of events is packed with activities for both students and the community.
According to Senior Class President Alison Brown, Homecoming 2015 boasts a weeklong theme of “California Dreaming.”
That theme is plugged into each of this year’s spirit days, where FHHS students are encouraged to come to school dressed up for the occasion.

Monday will be “Rags to Riches” while Tuesday is “Skater vs. Surfer.” Come Wednesday, costumes will be based on “Rapper vs. Rocker,” with Thursday being “Men in Black,” which is followed by a spirited “Falcon Friday.”
“I like the theme of ‘California Dreaming,’ because we don’t usually try to tie everything together like this,” Brown said.
“We’re also trying to get as many people involved as possible this year. That’s why we did spirit days like Skater vs. Surfer, so students have more options to decide how they want to dress.”
According to Brown, homecoming isn’t just for current students or Falcons returning to the nest, but also for anyone in the community who wants to come out, support the school and have a fun time.
On Wednesday, Sept. 30, the entire town is invited out to Avenue of the Fountains to enjoy the homecoming parade.
Featuring class floats, the homecoming court, the FHHS marching band and parade entries from various other local businesses, clubs and organizations, the parade is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. sharp.
Following the parade, FHHS students are invited back onto campus to enjoy the annual bonfire beginning at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, the Falcons will host preliminary rounds for a fundraising dodgeball tournament. Students have been encouraged to build teams of six, with the showdown to take place in the high school gym beginning at 7 p.m. The cost of entry is $5 and the community is invited to come out and watch the action unfold.
The dodgeball finals will be held during the FHHS pep assembly the following day at 1:20 p.m.
Finally, on Saturday, Oct. 3, the Falcons will enjoy their homecoming dance. The dance theme will be “Hollywood” this year, and the event will be hosted out of the high school gym from 7 to 11 p.m.
The volleyball team will have a pair of home matches during homecoming week, hosting Valley Christian on Monday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. and Holbrook on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m.
Finally, the football team will host its homecoming showdown on Friday, Oct. 2, welcoming Casa Grande Union to the local field at 7 p.m. The annual tailgate party will precede kickoff, with this year’s class floats on display near the field. Halftime will feature a musical performance by the marching band, as well as the presentation of this year’s class royalty.
“Homecoming is a lot of fun activities and it gets school spirit up, which is cool,” Brown added.
“We have a unique situation being in a small town like Fountain Hills. It’s cool for the whole community to be involved with something like homecoming, where they all can get excited together and just have fun.”
