The Chabad Edelman Jewish Center in Fountain Hills will host Holocaust survivor Eva Schneider for a public lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, offering the community an opportunity to hear a firsthand account from someone who lived through Auschwitz and Mauthausen.
Schneider, 92, was born to a Jewish family in Czechoslovakia and spent several years in hiding before being discovered by the Nazis at age 11 and deported to the concentration camps.
She credits a series of “miracles” for her survival during years of hardship, imprisonment and forced labor. In her lecture, Schneider will recount how these miracles saved her life as she endured hiding, Auschwitz and a death march at a young age.
