It may be only the end of August, but the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce is already planning for the Thanksgiving Day parade.

The theme for this year’s “Parada de los Cerros” is “Songs of the Season.” The date of the event is Thursday, Nov. 22. Registration opens Sept.17.

Participants are asked to take a favorite holiday song and apply its lyrics, theme or tune to come up with a creative float design.

Civic/business floats, equestrians, motorized entries, church or children affiliated groups, marching and walking community organizations and marching bands are welcome.

Chamber members do not pay any fee to participate. Registration will start Sept. 17.

The Chamber has hosted the annual “Parada de Los Cerros” on Thanksgiving Day for 33 years. The parade has earned the distinction as being the only Thanksgiving Day parade in Arizona.
