Holiday movies theme for Thanksgiving Parade

Let silver screen films inspire you for the theme of the Thanksgiving Day parade.
Applications are being accepted for “Hollywood Holidays,” the annual “Parada de Los Cerros,” hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24.
For the past 32 years, the community has been the site for the only Thanksgiving Day parade in the state. The parade will start at 9 a.m.
Around 80 entries are expected in categories that include civic and business floats, church and children entries, marching and walking groups, motorized entries and equestrians. Santa also is at the end of the floats and marchers.
Think of all the Hollywood classic or modern films that capture the holiday spirit – Frosty, Elf and Miracle on 34th Street – and decorate your float and select your costumes based on the movie, said Sharon Morgan, events manager.
Prizes will be awarded for the best presentations in several categories.
The route begins near El Lago and Saguaro boulevards, then continues north along Saguaro, west on Palisades Boulevard and south on La Montana Boulevard.
Registration for Chamber members is free. For non-commercial, none-Chamber members, the cost is $20 and $50 for commercial entries.
Sponsors are the Town of Fountain Hills, Brokers Alliance and SRP.
Oct. 24 is the registration deadline. For more information, contact Paige Lorentzen, events and marketing coordinator, at 837-1654, ext. 232.
