Santa Claus is going to be one busy fellow on Saturday, Dec. 2,

He will appear at three family-friendly community events to inaugurate the Christmas season.

The jolly ole fellow will be the honored guest at the annual Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Town of Fountain Hills and Noon Kiwanis at 9 a.m. in the Community Center.

Reservations have sold out for the breakfast.

Community Center

“Rudolph’s Reindeer Romp” is the theme for the free holiday celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Community Center.

The party is open to all ages. Making tree ornaments, sampling yummy refreshments and sipping hot cocoa are some activities planned. Musical entertainment, decorated wreaths and trees and a kazoo band parade are highlights.

Santa is expected to make an appearance between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Heather Ware, town volunteer coordinator, said it will be the 10th and final year of interactive train layouts by Ken Burling of Burling’s Ton of Trains.

The trains will operate from 2 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2; 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 9 and 16. On Friday, Dec. 22, the trains will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Stroll in the Glow

The party moves to the Avenue of the Fountains at 5 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. where guests can take a horse-drawn hay ride; make seasonal crafts at the Elves’ Village in Sonoran Lifestyle Real Estate’s courtyard, or photograph a live Nativity by Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church members.

Excitement will build shortly before 6 p.m. when the switch is thrown to turn on the lights and static displays in the median. Santa will arrive by fire truck shortly after 6 p.m. to greet the children and hear their wish lists.

A new feature this year will be free photos with Santa for the first 200 individuals or groups. For those not wanting to speak directly to St. Nick, the Neighborhood Property Owners Association (NPOA) will have a mailbox where letters can be posted.

Most stores will be open to serve refreshments and assist shoppers with gift ideas.

Stroll in the Glow is an annual joint activity of the town and Chamber of Commerce.
