Higley partners with Center for the Future of Arizona, ASU on student-led school budgeting

The Higley Unified School District Governing Board has approved an agreement with the Center for the Future of Arizona and Arizona State University to bring student-led participatory budgeting to campuses during the 2025-26 school year.

Through the school participatory budgeting initiative, students will help shape school improvement projects by proposing ideas, campaigning for them and voting on which ones should receive funding.

The Center for the Future of Arizona will provide $13,000 to support implementation across 13 schools, along with training, technical assistance, and evaluation support in partnership with ASU and the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.
