Helping out Yarnell victims
Posted
Arianne Bush and other residents are rounding up donated items to benefit victims of the Yarnell Hill Fire.
The group has extended the deadline for collecting items. Bush said the response so far has been enthusiastic.
Many homes were destroyed by the wildfire, and massive collection efforts are already under way.
Bush works at Here We Grow Preschool, and that facility is serving as the drop-off point for donated items.
The most sought-after items at this point are water, Gatorade, cleaning supplies, large trash bags and pet food for animals that have been sheltered after the pandemonium.
Here We Grow Preschool, 16901 E. Palisades Blvd., will accept donations until Friday, Aug. 2.
Donations can be accepted from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Then Jimmy Young, owner of Horizon Pool Care, will deliver the items to the affected area.
A specific list of items being sought is as follows:
Refrigerators (urgent need), hanging mirrors, fans, adult diapers (especially size medium and small), standing umbrellas, bleach, mops, trash bags (large, heavy duty), bungee cords, make-up, tents, paper towels, toilet paper, tin foil and plastic wrap, plastic zipper bags (quart and gallon), laundry soap, dish soap, scrub brushes, rubber gloves (cleaning, all sizes), and pet food (cat and dog).
Also, paper plates, napkins, healthy cereals, canned fruit, tuna, canned chili, juice, coffee, pasta sauce, ready to warm brown rice, underwear, socks (new), razors, shaving cream, hand mirrors, combs, water (1-3 gallon containers), mayonnaise, peanut butter, cracker packs, nutrition drinks (Ensure, Glucerna, etc.), breakfast and protein bars, hand sanitizer (large bottles) and baby wipes.
