Helene Tenley

Helene Gertrude Tenley, 85, resident of Fond du Lac, passed away on hospice at her home on Feb. 24, 2017. Helene was born in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of Francis and Gertrude (Nolan) Simons. She spent winters in Fountain Hills for 20 at her residence at La Vida Buena.

On Nov. 12, 1955 she married Donald R. Tenley at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Chicago.

Helene graduated with a bachelor degree from Marquette University in Medical Technology. Over the years she was employed at various health care facilities in the Fond du Lac area.

She enjoyed golfing, wintering in Arizona, playing Bridge, listening to and attending Jimmy Buffet concerts and an avid Wisconsin/Marquette/Green Bay sports fan.

Helene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community. She received her acknowledgement for 50 years in the medical technology service.

Helene is survived by five children, Eileen (William) Sullivan of Green Bay, Dr. Clifford (Brandee) Tenley of Boise, Idaho, Paul (Ginger) Tenley of Fond du Lac, Wis., Michael Tenley of Appleton, Wis. and Daniel Tenley of Phoenix; grandchildren, Tamara (John) Schultz, Mariah (Jeffrey) Hmielewski, Specialist Mason Sullivan, Jonathan “Jack” Tenley, Katelyn Tenley, Mikaela Sullivan, Taylor Tenley; and three great grandchildren, Sophia, Madelyn and Brynlee. She is furthered survived by one brother, Dr. Kenneth (Marilyn) Simons of Grand Junction, Colo., other relatives and friends.

Preceding Helene in death is her husband, Donald, infant son, Christopher, one grandson, Tyler Tenley and one brother, F. Joseph Simons.

Helene’s family received relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

On Saturday March 4, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church. Entombment followed at Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.

A memorial in Fountain Hills will take place Friday, March 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the pool at La Vida Buena.

Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the family in her name.
