Posted

Harlan J. Little passed away suddenly at his home in Fountain Hills on Nov. 20, 2014. He was born on Nov. 18, 1934 in Rochester, N.Y. The family moved with their two boys, Harlan and John, to Salmon, Idaho in 1944.

When Harlan was 18 years old in 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was proud to serve his country in Greece, England, Thailand and Guam as well as California and Arizona. Following his discharge in 1974 as Chief Master Sergeant E-9, he retired in Tucson.

In 1976, he moved to Vancouver, Wash. where he heard there was good hunting and fishing. He began working for TAB Products as a salesman of computer accessories and office supplies. It was there that he met Marilyn whom he would marry in 1978 and with whom he would share the rest of his life.

They relocated to Salem, Ore. and remained there until their final move in 1997 to Fountain Hills. He and Marilyn enjoyed several European vacations and especially liked their visit to Fatima in Portugal and Ireland. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and we will miss his singing “Oh, Danny Boy” at every family gathering.

Harlan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marilyn, and because of a blending of families, Harlan raised nine children; Diane Goza, Rita Palmer, Kim Little, Michael Little, Edie Ann Baldwin, Patrick Little, Kristen Coons, Teri Little, and David Burkle; and 15 grandchildren.

A private funeral mass was held on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church.

Harlan had a dedicated love for his two dogs that had passed before him and would be pleased with donations to the Arizona Humane Society in his honor.
