The newest Verdes Habitat for Humanity homeowners will be introduced at Rio Verde church services on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Residents are invited to join fellow supporters at the Community Church of the Verdes at 8:30 a.m. or St. Dominic Catholic Mission service at 10 a.m.

“Our volunteer construction crew is ready, but the hammering has been delayed while the property awaits a sewer inspection; a requirement before the building permit can be issued,” said Christine Gorsline, spokesperson for the Verdes Habitat Project.

Fundraising is in progress. Thermometer posters are placed throughout the community and early donations have already reached 10% of the goal. There are notecards on each poster that explain the many ways to donate.

“We’ve mailed more information to every home in 85263 ZIP code so watch your mailbox,” Gorsline said. “We’ve been notified that you can expect other mailings from Habitat for Humanity that, while legitimate, do not funnel funds to the local Verdes project. Please be sure that your check is labeled ‘Central Phoenix, VERDES.’ Dropping your check at your HOA office ensures that the Verdes project will be the recipient.”

Additional information on the fundraising and work for Habitat for Humanity continues with support from donors in the Verdes, Gorsline said.
