It was the confluence of two major astronomic events that drew a crowd estimated at more than a thousand people to the Civic Center and Centennial Plaza in Fountian Hills on Monday, April 8.
The International Dark Sky Discovery Center (IDSDC) chose the date for the groundbreaking on its new science center to coincide with the partial solar eclipse taking place in the sky that day.
“Today is history in the making. We are not just turning over some desert sand today, we are laying the foundation for a future filled with discovery,” IDSDC President Joe Bill said. “The International Dark Sky Discovery Center is a truly extraordinary science facility.”
