Griever's Journey for those mourning

Posted

Griever’s Journey is offering another 13-week session beginning in February at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.

The program provides help to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one.

“Our lives are marked by change and losses, and some are life altering, such as the death of a loved one,” said Michele Hasley, who facilitates the program.

This non-denominational grief program features a blend of biblical teachings on grief and recovery topics, with practical guidance to create a process that sensitively meets the needs of hurting people.

During small group discussion time, there are opportunities to interact with others who have experienced similar losses, while enriching one’s journey with shared experiences, challenges and emotions that grief brings.

This grief ministry provides a safe environment that offers a sense of warmth and acceptance in a relaxed and secure environment.

“This can be a confusing time, when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before, but in our sadness and grief there is always potential for change, growth and new insights,” Hasley added.

Griever’s Journey is a support group that is built around three components:

1.) Video seminars that bring together some of the foremost Christian experts on grief issues in a series addressing the emotional, spiritual and practical needs of those in grief.

The videos are by nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery, as well as real-life stories, interviews and experiences of people who have gone through losses, too.

2.) Support group interaction that participants benefit from interacting with others (when they are ready and wish to), which becomes much like a family for most participants, while they grow, encourage and support each other.

3.) Provides materials for note taking, personal study, reading and meditating on devotionals, as well as journaling, which can assist in reflections that will help participants build tools.

Participants can begin to “fill their toolbox” with newly- acquired knowledge and skills that help them successfully navigate and travel through their individual grief journey.

If you, a friend, or relative have experienced the loss of a loved one and are interested in this healing ministry, call Michele Hasley at 480-313-6814 to enroll in the next 13-week grief session, or for any additional information.
