Last weekend, my father and I were visiting family in Fountain Hills, and, on the last day of our visit, my great-aunt, great-uncle, father, and I went out to breakfast at local eatery Flapjacks on Palisades Boulevard.
During breakfast, my father had a seizure, and the outstanding actions of those who work at Flapjacks are why I am writing this letter today. The restaurant’s owner, Laura, immediately dialed 911, while several employees and patrons helped lay my father on his side and talked him through the traumatic seizures.
I also dialed 911, and at this point, Laura ordered other patrons of her restaurant to move their tables to the sides while an employee opened the door, in order to create an airway for my father to breathe more easily.

The paramedics arrived shortly after, and took my father to the hospital, while I, understandably shaken, followed in our car; after all tests were run, it was concluded that my father was fine.
The reason I’m writing today, as I mentioned earlier, is to let the people of Fountain Hills know of the amazing quality of people who work at your local restaurant Flapjacks.
The actions of Laura and her employees greatly helped my father at a time when I was extremely fearful for my dad’s safety, and I feel that, even while I return to college at UC Berkeley up in Northern California and my dad continues to live near Palm Springs in Southern California, the people of Fountain Hills, Ariz. need to know how great those who work at Flapjacks are.
