Posted

Gordon Norris Griggs was born April 15, 1930 to Percy and Josephine Griggs in Kemmerer, Wyo., leaving there when he was 12 years old and moving to the bay area in California.

Gordon went to school in Petaluma and Santa Rosa Junior college taking engineering and becoming an engineer in San Francisco and later running several commercial refrigeration offices for Hill Refrigeration on the west coast from California to Alaska and including Montana. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Susan is his second wife and his children from his first marriage are Suzanna and Mark, both of whom live California.

Susan and Gordon were married 36 years and have lived in Washington and California, as well as 20 years in Fountain Hills. Gordon drove a school bus for Fountain Hills for 11 years and thoroughly enjoyed it until back surgery caused him to quit. Gordon was a kind, gentle, loyal and loving person.

They both enjoyed traveling and returning to the Northwest where Susan’s family resides. They have seven grandchildren and Gordon just became a great grandfather during his recent illness. The past few months have been very difficult with surgery and several strokes. He passed peacefully at Osborn hospital on Labor Day morning.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
