Golden thank you

Sunday, Nov. 3, I held a Walk-a-Thon for Young Adult Cancer Awareness at the Fountain Park for my Girl Scout Gold Award “Take Action” project.

I have been familiar with Girl Scouts and their willingness to help a fellow scout, but I had no idea when I started this project that complete strangers from my community would give so generously to support a young scout wanting to help others.

Everywhere I went asking for help and support from businesses and individuals, I found kind-hearted people. I have so many people to thank for helping make my Walk-a-Thon a success. Thank you to the 80 plus people who came out to walk and make a difference for Young Adult Cancer Awareness - one step at a time.

I would like to thank: Allan Bluestone, Diane Stallings, Fountain Hills Chamber Players, Fountain Hills Convenience Store, Fry’s, Hair by Rose, International Minute Press in Phoenix, Kelley’s Automotive Shop, Phil’s, Ray Olmscheid, Safeway, Target, Walgreens, Water and Ice and You Need Nails for your donations.

A big thank you goes to our local Hilltop Band, my Girl Scout troop No. 2002 members, Basis Scottsdale students,Ashley, Ryan and Adriana from “Stupid Cancer” support group; Dr. Bodour Salhia with TGen; John Nishan, my Gold Award project advisor, Nita Blose, Gold Award Committee member,my wonderful family; my sister, brother, parents and grandparents for helping me plan, organize and facilitate an event that was fun but meaningful. Thank you Fountain Hills for being a caring community and for reaching out to help a local youth learn how to be a leader.
