Get into the spirit of Halloween with Golden Age of Radio and a trio of chilling, spine-tingling programs Thursday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Community Center.

First on the list of Halloween treats is a special tale of the supernatural from the popular radio series, “Escape.” This particular episode is an adaptation of a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story that is as timeless as the characters involved in this ironic account of nearly ever-lasting life.

The Halloween chills continue with eerie episodes of Arch Oboler’s “Lights Out, Everybody.” Considered radio’s most memorable suspense/horror series, listeners were warned at the beginning of each program to turn off their radio if they frightened easily.

Classic radio programs such as these are part of an extensive collection in Golden Age of Radio’s Bruce Florence Library, which is available to all members of the Activity Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Membership in the Activity Center is required to attend meetings of the Golden Age of Radio. For more information, contact Bill Whittaker at 480-837-7961, or the Activity Center at 480-816-5226.
