The Fountain Hills Theater opened the new year with a production of “God of Carnage.” It will play from Jan. 10-26. The play won a TONY in 2009 as best play.
There are four actors on stage at all times and they are simply dynamite. Tara Furcini, Matthew Cary, Diane Senffner and Scott Hyder. Any play with Scott is outstanding…remember him in
“The Producers” and “Boeing, Boeing?”

The rest are all new to us, and I sure hope we see more of them. Great job! Pamela Fields is the director. She is a professional director, actor and educator. She was the Theatre Arts Director at Scottsdale Community College from 1975-2002 and she does a first-class job.
Personally, I loved the play and although they call it a “comedy” it has many, many layers and is extremely thought-provoking. The two sets of parents meet to discuss a playground altercation between their two boys ending with one boy losing some teeth.
The conversation is very civil and everyone is being politically correct…until, out comes the rum, and everything evolves into absolute chaos. Well, you just have to go see it. It’s a bit like “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolff” but with humor. Look for the “cell phone in the tulips scene” and you realize that no matter what, we’re all really on our own.
Keep the kids at home and go see an adults-only play done with excellent acting and directing.
See you at the theater!
P.S. Broadway in the Hills will be on March 29. Get your tickets before Jan. 31 and it is only $100. This is the biggest fundraiser for our theater and hope to see you there.
