Giving thanks for Home Delivered Meals

November is the month to “give thanks.”

Fountain Hills Home Delivered Meals program is thankful for its 200-plus 200 volunteers, one of the largest volunteer- based organizations in Fountain Hills.

Some volunteers deliver on a regular basis while others are substitute backups, insuring that HDM clients always receive their meals.

In addition to the volunteers who deliver meals, the program has seven volunteer day coordinators, one assigned to each day of the week.

The volunteer day coordinators keep the delivery schedule organized and running smoothly, as well as delivering meals themselves.

The program’s purpose is to provide nutritional mid-day meals for individuals who require meal assistance, allowing them to reside as long as possible in the comfort of their own homes.

The Town of Fountain Hills is appreciative of its HDM volunteers for taking the time from their busy schedules to serve others.

“Our volunteers deliver meals seven days a week, including all major holidays,” said Nita Blose, Home Delivered Meals coordinator.

“They are the backbone of our program and our eyes and ears regarding our clients’ needs.”

Anyone interested in learning more about the Home Delivered Meals program may contact the John O’Flynn Activity Center at 816-5226, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Messages may be left after 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends with follow-up on the next business day.
