The Fountain Hills High School girls basketball team’s season came to an end this past Saturday, Feb. 16, exiting the postseason in the second round of the state playoffs.

The next playoff game for Fountain Hills was against Holbrook on Feb. 15. The Lady Falcons lost this match-up by a final score of 64-38.
Head coach Mandy Baca said she could tell that her team was dealing with some nerves in the game against Valley Christian.
“Both us and Valley Christian had off nights offensively, with our shooting,” Baca said. “I think of that as a result of the nerves and the jitters because a lot of these girls have never found themselves in a postseason game.”
With the both teams struggling offensively, it was battle of the defenses that was the deciding factor of the Valley Christian game.
“Our biggest lead that night was maybe four,” Baca said. “And Valley Christian’s was five. At the end of the first half it was, like, 11-10 so it really was a struggle between the defenses, which was nice because that has been a big focus of ours this season.”
Further comment from the coach about the game against Holbrook was unavailable as of press time.
