George Joseph Mortimer

George Joseph Mortimer, 78, of Scottsdale, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 due to complications from cancer.

Born in Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 24, 1938 to Irvine and Irma Mortimer, George lived most of his life in the Chicagoland area until moving to his new Arizona home in 2000.

George was a loving and proud husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is preceded in death by Judith, his loving wife of 41 years, and granddaughter, Heather. He is survived by his children, Michael, David, Mark, Gregory, Kimberly and 13 grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings, Margaret, Mildred, Richard, Albert, Robert and James and 12 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 North Saguaro Blvd. Fountain Hills followed by a memorial service at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church 13001 Fountain Hills Blvd at 2 p.m.
