For the first time in four years, the national average for a gallon of gas has topped the $4 mark, reaching $4.09 a gallon this week, according to a release from AAA Arizona. In Fountain Hills, these prices are even higher.
Prices in Fountain Hills range from $4.98 to $5.15, making it among the highest in the state for gas, according to GasBuddy.
“Crude oil prices surpassed $100 per barrel as the conflict in the Middle East continues and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed,” said AAA Mountain West Group spokesperson Julian Paredes. “In 2022, gas prices remained elevated from March through August, peaking in June when the national average reached a record of $5 per gallon for one week.”
