Frightening

“What a revoltin’ development this is.”

The citizens of our country have apparently elected a person to lead our country, and the free world, who has shown himself to have the emotional maturity of an undisciplined fifth grader, a total lack of preparation for the job, no desire to learn, and a tendency to go off half-cocked!

The most frightening thing is that Trump is already taking phone calls from foreign leaders without any prior preparation or briefing. He recently spoke to the President of Taiwan in total breach of protocol and decades old U.S. policy, putting our tenuous relationship with China at risk. This conversation also brought up definite conflicts of interest since Trump is said to be exploring building hotels in Taiwan.

Trump also had recent conversations with the Presidents of the Philippines and Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was effusive and gushing with his praise for these leaders even though they employ strong-arm tactics, restriction of rights, and even torture and are currently at odds with us and our allies. This appears to be the kind of leadership Trump admires.

Talks with foreign leaders can’t be so “off the cuff.” They need to be well prepared for and undertaken with a realization of the history between the two countries and an eye toward the desired outcome after consultation with staff. A President must realize that any wrong words can have huge consequences—even to starting wars.

Perhaps Kellyanne will have to once again restrict Trump’s twitter usage and consider taking his phone away as well. This would be funny if not so deadly serious. This isn’t reality TV, but the real world.

Hopefully electors are taking note and will vote with the overwhelming popular vote to save us from this dangerous and unstable man.
