Freda Peterson Wendell

Freda Peterson Wendell, age 87, passed away May 29, one day short of her 88th birthday.

Freda was born in Detroit, Mich., where she grew up with her parents and two sisters. She graduated from Pershing High School and married Nicholas Peterson with whom she had three daughters.

Freda was an active, loving mother raising the girls and working as a dental assistant. When her marriage ended she moved to Arizona and began a new life. She met and married Jack Wendell in 2001 and had a loving relationship.

Freda is survived by her spouse, Jack; her loving daughters, Sandra Peterson, Melinda Peck (Cliff), Kristina Stanford (Steve); and sister, Bess Amidon. Freda was a devoted grandmother to Kaitlyn and Scott Stanford and Kyle and Tyler Peck. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Samuel Poulos and sister, Nancy Zilowey.

Freda’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, at Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85066.
