Winter break camp develops spontaneity

The Fountain Hills Youth Theater is offering a one-of-a-kind Improv Camp during winter break, Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 27-29.

“The ability to think on your feet is invaluable,” a press release said. “Improvisation is a fun way to develop important skills both on stage and beyond. Gain confidence and stage presence while you improve your acting skills through scenes and games.”

Improvisational theater is the form of theatre (often comedy) in which most or all of what is performed is unplanned or unscripted, created spontaneously by the performers.

Improv helps develop creativity, imagination, mental flexibility, critical thinking, spontaneity and confidence, the press release said. Improv also helps performers improve their teamwork and collaboration, listening, communication and ability to adapt and problem-solve.

Improv Camp at the Fountain Hills Youth Theater is for ages 7+ and runs Dec. 27-29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuition is $175 and the instructor is Sara Bruton.

For tickets, visit fhtaz.org, click on the “Education” tab and select “Classes, Camps and Workshops” from the drop-down menu. For information, call 480-837-9661 x3.
