Fountain Hills water main break renews outcry for repairs

Citizen takes complaints to town council

A water main rupture in the street along Palisades Boulevard Jan. 19 resulted in the closure of that main arterial for several days prompting one resident to demand resolution.

John Kirkeide sent an email after his wife spoke at the council meeting Jan. 21. His message was sent to council members, staff and EPCOR Water, the private company that supplies potable water to Fountain Hills residents.

“Palisades is one of three main arteries coming into Fountain Hills from the Phoenix area, and since it is the most western arterial entrance, it is most likely the most heavily used both by visitors to Fountain Hills and employees commuting to and from work,” Kirkeide said. “It is a busy street with a high traffic count; thousands of cars a day use Palisades in what is now the closed section; the closed section is southbound Palisades from Palamino/Eagle Ridge to Shea. Driving northbound on Palisades on Monday and Tuesday, I did not see any construction/repair activity, just barricades closing the southbound lanes.”
