Fountain Hills Town Council talks changes to zoning ordinance

Looking at rules pertaining to community residences

The Fountain Hills Town Council held a discussion at a recent meeting to hear input regarding possible changes to the zoning ordinance regulations related to community residences. Community residences are those within residential zoning districts that allow for assisted living or transitional housing for rehab.

The council approved major changes to the ordinance in 2022 with an aim toward tightening requirements for group homes. It was brought up again earlier this year for new consideration. However, the Arizona State Legislature was considering changes to state law and the town decided to delay an update.

The council is now looking at changes that are consistent with the state statute.
