Politics can be controversial enough but add in the proliferation of candidate and issue signs during elections, and there are all kinds of opinions from all points of view.
It might be stated that generally most people do not like the sign clustering that tends to grow along the streets touting favorite candidates and issues. However, Arizona state law pretty much makes the signs untouchable bolstered by a U.S. Supreme Court decision that prohibits any restrictions on sign content.
The state law for Arizona allows political signs in the public rights-of-way during the period from 72 days prior to a primary election through 15 days following the general election, essentially June through November during an election year. The signs may be up to 16 square feet in residential zoning areas and up to 32 square feet in other areas.
