At the meeting scheduled for Feb. 6, the Fountain Hills Town Council will discuss finance options for future street maintenance and will consider whether to amend rules to allow the cannabis dispensary in town to expand its hours and provide delivery service. There is also consideration of extending a moratorium on 5G broadband development in the town.
This fiscal year the town has a program of resurfacing several streets that can be covered by a cost of about $5 million. There is also a plan to invest another $5 million next fiscal year (2024/2025).
According to studies by pavement management consultants and a committee of community volunteers to propose plans for ongoing pavement management, a long-term plan to reach a satisfactory pavement condition could cost $40 million to $64 million. The estimates vary between the volunteer panel and the consulting firm.
