Fountain Hills Town Council hears quarterly fiscal update

Some economic ‘headwinds,’ but revenue still stable

Town of Fountain Hills Finance Director Paul Soldinger told the town council May 20 that the net taxable activity during the third quarter, January through March 2025, was $192.6 million, which was down 2.8% or $5.6 million from the same quarter in 2024.

Soldinger said that despite the economic headwinds and slight contraction, business activity was still ahead of projections for the year. Total transaction privilege tax (sales tax) activity from all reporting categories was $5.5 million for the quarter. This was $1 million more than the $4.49 million projection. However, it is still down 1.5% from the same quarter of 2024.

Sales tax revenue from retail sales reflected stability. There was $3 million collected compared to a projection of $2.67 million. This is an increase of 1.88% over the third quarter in 2024. Soldinger said those numbers are also consistent with statewide collections.
