Fountain Hills Town Council approves contract to modify cooling stations

In preparation for summer heat

Fountain Hills Town Council voted unanimously to authorize modification of the central plant chilled water piping system through a purchasing agreement during its meeting on Tuesday, March 3.

The $189,633.21 agreement with B2B Direct Sales, Inc. will add two configurations to the existing cooling towers and chillers in town for full redundancy and operational flexibility in preparation for summer.

In planning for the Town Hall, Community Center and library, two other buildings in the initial plans called for a third chiller, Public Works Director Justin Weldy said. In that location was a building identified as a senior center next to Park Place, while the other location is occupied by the Dark Sky Discovery Center and Community Garden, which was proposed as a threater.
