Fountain Hills students walk and run at Red Ribbon event

Even though the focus of Red Ribbon Week has changed through the years, the basic focus remains the same: encourage young people to be drug-free.

That focus was evident Oct. 23, when hundreds of Fountain Hills Unified students were moving around the McDowell Mountain Elementary School running track as part of the district’s Red Ribbon Week Walk.

Tammy Bell, director of the Fountain Hills Coalition that helps put on many district Red Ribbon Week events, said fitness and exercise are big components of emphasizing drug-free living.
