Fountain Hills Sanitary District earns prestigious award

For Aquifer Storage and Recovery

The Fountain Hills Sanitary District received Reuse Project of the Year honors from the AZ Water Association for its aquifer storage and recovery well vault replacement project.

The AZ Water Association is a nonprofit educational and professional organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Arizona’s water environment, Fountain Hills Sanitary District Manager Dana Trompke, P.E. said.

The District uses aquifer storage and recovery wells to store and re-use reclaimed water for irrigation, according to a press release. The aging underground vaults had become corroded and required confined-space maintenance, which created safety and operational challenges in high-traffic areas of Fountain Park.
