Enhanced tours deepen understanding of Yavapai heritage

The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Cultural Tour has returned with an expanded, upgraded experience.
Led by Clissene Lewis, director of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Cultural Center & Museum, this immersive tour offers participants a deeper understanding of Yavapai history, culture and place, according to a press release.
The motor coach tour includes stops at key cultural and historical locations, including the statue of the Yavapai Warrior outside the former bingo hall; the site of the FBI raid and FMYN resistance that established May 12 as Sovereignty Day; the H’man Shawa Early Childhood School and garden; Rosa’s Ranch for a historical and cultural discussion about the significance of the river; Four Peaks in the Tonto National Forest; and the Orme Dam to discuss “money and land loss,” the Yavapai vote and other important stories.

The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Cultural Tour has returned with an expanded, upgraded experience.
Led by Clissene Lewis, director of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Cultural Center & Museum, this immersive tour offers participants a deeper understanding of Yavapai history, culture and place, according to a press release.
