Fountain Hills residents reporting scam incidents

More than a dozen over past month

Since early June the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in Fountain Hills has received more than a dozen reports of scams or fraud incidents from residents, sometimes with losses in the thousands of dollars.

Capt. Larry Kratzer, MCSO commander for the Sheriff’s District 7 in Fountain Hills, acknowledged there has been a spike in such incidents lately but said there does not appear to be any pattern.

“There were no identifiable trends to these incidents, and nothing that indicated the situations were connected to an increase in people being out on vacation or a break from school,” Kratzer said.
