Fountain Hills mayoral candidate contesting action on campaign artwork

Claims council direction lacked a quorum

An outside law firm has reviewed the campaign artwork of Fountain Hills Council Member and mayoral candidate Brenda Kalivianakis and determined it includes trademark infringement regarding the town seal.

However, Kalivianakis is claiming the direction on behalf of the council to enlist the third party’s services, which came following an executive session on March 24, was improper due to the lack of a quorum.

The town sent trademark warning letters to all candidates on March 10 regarding use of images that may have resembled the town’s seal. On March 25, Kalivianakis received a second letter stating “based on the recommendations of the council, the Town intends to forward your logo to a trademark attorney to make a professional assessment…”
