Fountain Hills Lions Club records biggest year of childhood vision screenings

Screenings come amid increased statewide focus on early vision intervention

The Fountain Hills Lions Club completed vision screenings for 143 local children this year, marking the club’s largest screening effort to date.

According to Lions Club President Don Wendel, the screenings reached children as young as one year old up through age 16, reflecting the club’s ongoing commitment to early detection of vision issues in the community.

Of the children screened, 19 were referred for a full eye examination by an optometrist due to potential concerns identified during the initial check. An additional four screenings were inconclusive because the children’s pupils were too small for the device to capture accurate readings.
