To celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the founding of Fountain Hills, the iconic fountain will be illuminated in color on Friday, Dec. 15.
The fountain will run for about 45 minutes beginning at 9 p.m.
The famed fountain has been running daily since the beginning of development in Fountain Hills. With the first push of water 560 feet into the sky by three 600hp motors, the namesake fountain in Fountain Hills has been an attraction for visitors far and wide.
The fountain was the unique feature developers Robert McCulloch and C.V. Wood wanted to attract homebuyers to this remote area in 1970.
For many years the community had bragging rights to the tallest fountain in the world. Today it is still the fourth highest when running on all three pumps.
