With classrooms and school hallways empty last week, there was one corner of Fountain Hills High School that got some attention over spring break.
On Monday, March 10, coaches and scouts from approximately 25 NFL teams flocked to the Fountain Hills High School football field to fill out their special teams rosters where more than 70 punters, kickers and long-snappers gathered for Gary Zauner’s Free Agent Combine.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., players worked through “perfect lace” drills, kickoff and field goal accuracy and punting and kicking consistency, building up their draft stock and hopefully getting a few nods from the attending scouts.
