Fountain Hills council denies request for electronic message signs

Application deadline missed

The Town Council denied a request to process applications for two electronic sign message boards since they were submitted after the Nov. 16 effective date of the new ordinance that prohibits the electronic signs in Fountain Hills.

Councilmember Brenda Kalivianakis brought the request to the council on behalf of Frank Quinn of FMQ Development, a sign company owner who is in the process of relocating his business to the community. She said this is a hardship situation because the deadline was missed due to an unforeseen medical emergency that delayed the person submitting the paperwork.

“We need to do everything we can to be pro-business,” Kalivianakis said. “We elect people who can make decisions that help people.”
