After nearly four years, the Fountain Hills Town Council took steps forward in approving a $15,000 contract with a third-party consultant, McCollough Law Firm PC, in creating ordinances relating to wireless telecommunications and antennas. The final vote was 5-2.
Councilmember Peggy McMahon opposed ratifying the contract while Councilmember Brenda Kalivianakis called it “foolish” to throw taxpayer dollars at another consultant with no guaranteed outcome.
The council voted to proceed with a contract with an outside law firm toward developing a small-cell wireless ordinance in January. Three consultants were previewed during an executive session in February, Town Manager Rachael Goodwin said, and McCollough Law Firm PC was chosen.
