Lions Club hosts peace poster contest at Community Center

The Fountain Hills Lions Club is currently hosting its Lions peace poster contest for students from the Inspiration Academy and Fountain Hills Middle School.

Art work is on display at the Community Center. This is a community project held by the Fountain Hills Lions Club to promote peace in the world.

Botanical Garden seeks volunteers

The Fountain Hills Desert Botanical Garden seeks volunteers to join its cause to keep the trail in good condition for all to use.

The garden requires stewardship from the community to keep the trail accessible to all.

Fountain Hills Woodworkers to meet

The Fountain Hills Woodworkers will meet Saturday, Dec. 14, for a presentation on building a hardware sideboard and buffet table, incorporating recycled quality woods and carved relief panels of Arizona wildlife.

There is no charge to join Fountain Hills Woodworkers. Anyone interested in woodworking can send an email to kim.colenso@cox.net.

Nonprofits are welcome to contact Fountain Hills Woodworkers with their needs.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly welcomes newcomers

Those looking for weight-loss support and to start or continue their journey of weight loss is invited to join TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Fountain Hills chapter every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chapter meetings are held at Joy Church, 13430 N. Saguaro Blvd. Use the front entrance of the church and follow the signs.

Rotary Club of Fountain Hills meet Nov. 19

The Fountain Hills Rotary Club will host Maricopa County District 2 Supervisor Tom Galvin Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Held at the American Legion Post 58, 16837 E. Parkview Ave., the Rotary Club of Fountain Hills meetings are at 4 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Community Center contract bridge winners posted

Contract bridge is played every Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Community Center. Membership in the Community Center is required to participate.

Winners from Nov. 1 include Gerd Brinkman in first place, Max Love in second place and Richard Rasmussen in third place.

Winners from Nov. 6 include Alan Max in first place, Richard Rasmussen in second place and Cathy Marco in third place.

Al-Anon holds regular meetings

Al-Anon family meetings are held each Saturday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in the classroom building.

The only requirement to attend is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Attendees will find hope as members share their experiences, strength and hope.

Shepherd of the Hills is located at 16150 E. El Lago Blvd.
