In their last two matches, the Fountain Hills High School beach volleyball (8-1) team took down two top-10 teams, and they moved up to No. 5 after beating then-No. 2 Saguaro on Monday, March 25.
Head coach Jimmy Belluscio said the Falcons’ victory over No. 11 Gilbert Christian on Friday, March 22, was one of the best volleyball games he’s ever been a part of. The Knights were 6-1 before the match, and the Falcons won 4-1.
“Last week was super important because now we control our own destiny,” Belluscio said. “Meaning, if we win, we win the section [and] we’re a top seed. If we lost a game last week, then we’d have to hope someone else loses and win out. Whole different thing being able to control your own destiny in sports.”
