The Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery will hold a demonstration 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, led by watercolorist Carrie Godwin.
Godwin said she enjoys the magical blend of the pigments and water in her subjects and is intrigued by color theory which ties into her original background of fine art and commercial photography.
Godwin’s work ranges from landscape, abstract, animals and collage/mixed media added to her watercolor paintings.
“When I start a painting, I use light washes and then I patiently build up the layers,” Godwin said. “Paying attention to how the paper dries is very key to adding details, then revising some layers to work with the details, until I feel the work reflects my vision.”
Ultimately, Godwin wants her work to make people feel a connection with a piece either from a memory, energy or calm sense.
The gallery is located at 16858 E. Avenue of the Fountains and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
