Malia Robinson is 9 years old and homeschooled in Fountain Hills.

But from April 16-19, she’ll be in Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Elks National Hoop Shoot Competition for the ages 8-9 girls’ division. Robinson will have to make as many free throws as she can out of 25 attempts and beat the scores of 11 other regional qualifiers to win.

Robinson has come a long way to make it to the finals. She had to win the local, district, state, and regional competitions to make it to the nationals.
