Imagine the ego and self-involvement of current Fountain Hills Mayor Linda Kavanagh to think Ginny Dickey would disrupt her summer and time with her newborn granddaughter just to be a thorn in Kavanagh’s side, per talk around town.
Dickey would never ask for supporters’ hard-earned money without pursuit of a serious campaign and intent to work hard and smart to succeed. The current mayor can brush off Dickey’s write-in effort as a distraction to feed her ego, but Fountain Hills residents know better and appreciate a real choice for our town’s leadership.
Voters deserve ample opportunities to hear all candidates’ positions on issues facing our town and visions for its future to cast well-informed votes. Most candidates embrace opportunities, keeping their calendars free barring bona fide emergencies. Accustomed to running unopposed and doing things her way, current mayor outright refused Chamber/FHCCA’s forum participation; after Dickey graciously agreed not to participate in yesterday’s forum when Kavanagh claimed she couldn’t.

No forums with both candidates have occurred, ballots are being mailed, and the election is Aug. 30! Clearly, this is a blatant attempt to marginalize Dickey’s campaign, access to voters and the media.
This reflects a media-documented pattern of disdain for voters, community, accepted practices and ethics. In 2014, disagreeing with a school board decision, the current mayor asked her name be withdrawn from an ad supporting the school override. Endeavoring to use her position to influence the vote’s outcome, she totally dismissed the educational needs of our students.
We are so fortunate to have Dickey’s proven willingness to listen and work with all equally, sincere dedication to our town, acumen, ethics and integrity.
