Footing the bill

When will it end? Once again the town’s homeowners will be asked to foot the bill for the FHUSD, which will not or cannot get its fiscal house in order. After having approved an $8 million bond package and other budget overrides in 2013, we’ll be asked to extend a $750,000 capital override.

The spin is going to be, “Your taxes won’t go up.” True as that may be, if you vote “no,” perhaps they’ll go down. Now won’t that be a refreshing change!

Also, to those who are against a community pool in town...I like the small town feel, too. It’s quiet and serene living in Fountain Hills, but wouldn’t it be nice if our merchants could make a living? This town needs something that will bring people here...people who will spend their money and help support our community.

Try this on for size – build a community pool. Issue free annual passes for residents of Fountain Hills and charge a nominal daily, weekly or monthly fee for those who don’t live in town. Not only will the town bring in revenue, but the merchants will benefit. That is what is needed to bring people into this sleepy town.

Ripping up Avenue of the Fountains and putting it back together with a faux facelift will do nothing to bring visitors here. It is a waste of taxpayer dollars. The fact that SRP wants to charge the town additional monies because they gave us false information about upgrading the transformer is unforgiving. Their original claims should have been in writing and they should have been held to it.

When will the residents of this town learn to stop being led blindly?
